New Treatment Program for Body Dysmorphic Disorder Showing Positive Results

Each year, about10 million Americans seek surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Of the people who seek cosmetic and dermatological treatment to improve their physical appearance, 6% to 15% of them—or an estimated 650,000 Americans—suffer from body dysmorphic disorder.

Our Choice in Diet Can Impact Our Behavior

Does the way we eat impact the way we behave? Research from the Scripps Research Institute suggests that cycling between periods of eating sweet and regular-tasting food can activate the brain’s stress system and generate overeating, anxiety and withdrawal-like symptoms.
