Most Normal-Weight Women Want to Be Thinner

Most normal-weight women—almost 90 percent in a 2007 Cornell study of 310 college students—want to be thinner, and half of underweight women want to lose even more weight. Meanwhile, most overweight women don’t want to be thin enough to achieve a healthy weight.

New Phone Applications Could Trigger Eating Disorders

New, Thinner Barbie Doll May Fuel More Eating Disorders

The already unrealistically thin Barbie doll is becoming even thinner, as designer Christian Louboutin thinks the doll’s ankles are “too fat” and is redesigning a newer, thinner version due out in the US in May. Examiner.com writer Cindy Adams notes that this move may fuel the already rising incidence of eating disorders among women in the U.S. who strive to obtain impossibly thin figures.

Former Ralph Lauren Model Enraged at Altered Image

Former Ralph Lauren model Filippa Hamilton says she was fired for being “too fat.” The company recently received criticism for altering an image of the 5-foot-10, 120-pound model to look emaciated, with her head too big for her body.
